Tips for balancing Vata

Routine is important. Wake, eat, and sleep at the same time daily. Look at the sun rise and sunset.

Be grounded. Walk on the ground barefoot.

Enjoy warm spices like cinnamon and ginger. Warm calming teas, warm lemon water.

Be quiet, cook, nap, spend time doing things you love.

Be gentle with yourself. Practice Yin Yoga.

Switch to sesame oil and warming essential oils.

Surround yourself with warmth, nature, soups, blankets, and massage.

Sweet Dumpling Squash Recipe

Ingredients:

1-2 Sweet Dumpling Squash

2 tablespoons of organic brown sugar

1 cup brown rice

1 red bell pepper

Fresh kale

Fresh ginger

Olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Cinnamon to taste

Directions:

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Remove and discard pulp and seeds.

Coat inside of each squash with 1 tablespoon brown sugar; sprinkle with fresh grated ginger. Bake on a parchment-lined baking pan for about 30 minutes.

Cook brown rice or a rice of choice in rice cooker. Chop red bell pepper and kale. Mix cooked rice, kale, and pepper in a bowl.

Fill each squash with rice mix. Bake about 15 to 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve warm.
